How does the internet know what country I'm in?

I'm in an airport in South Korea for a connecting flight. All of the sites I've been on are switching to Korean (I live in America). Like Google is in Korean, YouTube switched my preferences to Korean, and I can't go on Hulu because I can only watch it in the US. How? It's not like I switched IP addresses or something.
