Why does my key not turn in the ignition ?

I called AAA and he tapped the key with a hammer and it started,then he told me to put some graphite in the ignition.I bought a hammer and tapped it too,it worked. I also put graphite in it.It works sometimes.Is there anything I can do to make the key turn all the time:?
