Will this work on and protect my drawings...?

i have posted a question recently but part of my question was not answered... if i spray my graphite pencil drawings with hair spray or a fixative and what not, will it protect them enough to allow me to put my pictures in plastic page protectors in a presentation portfolio?? will the spray prevent it from smearing and getting ruined in the plastic??
